Affordable Housing Thematic Group (AH TG)

Affordable Housing Thematic Group (AH TG)

The main purpose of the Thematic Group on Affordable Housing (AH TG) is to cover all issues exclusively related to affordable housing, in addition to those that crosscut other sectors. This comprises planning, management, implementation, donor coordination, and land administration policy including land use regulation. The key functions of the AH TG are to:

  • mobilize donor funds around housing schemes that have been approved by the PA;
  • coordinate on existing housing schemes to prevent the duplication of efforts or gaps;
  • coordinate with critical infrastructure providers and maximize synergy;
  • identify primary indicators that will be used to measure progress and performance within the sector, based on the national strategy of Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MoPWH);
  • identify the capacity-building and technical assistance needed for all involved PA line ministries;
  • monitor the involvement of key actors in facilitating the implementation of program responsibilities and timelines;
  • review, advise and report on housing-related policies and strategies to the Infrastructure Strategy Group (ISG) and Economic Strategy Group (ESG), along with specific recommendations for action;
  • provide inputs for affordable housing programs approved by the Cabinet.
  • The TG AH reports to the ISG on a regular basis, and reports periodically to the ESG.

    Membership in the group is limited to donors and other relevant institutions (e.g. private sector, non-governmental organizations) that provide substantial financial or analytical value to the sector, as well as pertinent PA institutions.
